Rare ‘Pay Copy’ Of Marvel’s First Comic Book Sells For $2.4 Million

When asked about the beginning of the Marvel universe, most of us refer to the Iron Man movie. But that is not true. Marvel started their universe with their first comic release.

Marvel Comics No. 1, was Marvel’s first comic, marking the beginning of the Marvel universe. It was recently on auction, where it netted $2.4 million.

Marvel Comics No. 1 introduced us to many interesting Marvel characters like the Human Torch, the Submariner, the Angel, and the Masked Raider. It truly was the beginning of the Marvel universe.

Without the success of the first Marvel comics, it would have been impossible to imagine all the interesting Marvel superheroes and stories that we get to read and watch on the silver screen.

What makes this Rare ‘pay copy’ very special?

There are many facts about this Rare ‘pay copy’ of the first Marvel comic books. The fact that it is one of the original first copies of the Marvel comic book is astonishing alone. This makes this comic book almost 80 years old.

The “pay copy” of the comic book also contains the publisher’s handwritten notes on the payments due to the artists. Because Frank Paul and other painters contributed to the cover, publisher Lloyd Jacquet used a pencil to note the figures. These annotations give the cartoon special historical importance.

Despite being 8 decades old, the comic is in mint condition. It is almost like a new comic book from the publisher. 

So, all things considered, the $2.4 million is justified for it.
